Gran Canaria in Feb - anyone know hotels with heated pools

Looking for some February sun that doesn't completely cost the earth. Is Gran Canaria worth it then? If so, anyone know which hotels have heated pools?

Or other suggested if where to go in Feb

It'll be cold in February. Not freezing obviously, but not warm enough to lay around the pool even if it is heated.

We went in March once and it was really windy - you needed a jumper all day at a minimum.

We aren't bothered about laying round the pool tbh! Have looked at the month if Feb 2023 and 2022 and seen that the weather is a steady 23°c with a couple of days even reading 29°. 23 will be fine! But would like a heated pool ideally.

The weather could be lovely, it's unpredictable. We've been to the Canaries at that time of year a few times and it's been between mid teens up to 30 C.

There's somewhere in Gran Canaria that's most sunny/least windy, probably somewhere along the south coast.

Can't recommend anywhere in particular, I'd just look for hotels that I like and check if there's at least one heated pool. Plus there's quite a few other things to do if it's not that warm - go to Las Palmas, walking in the hills, look at the boats in the marinas, watersports or boat trips etc.

My point was that even with heated pools, the wind made it feel really cold and I wouldn't have wanted to swim.

Yes, the temperatures could be high but the wind really makes a difference. We went in March and while it said mid twenties it felt a good ten degrees colder and not in a nice way.

Can't remember the exact name but I want to say bahazil or something like that
Private villas on a site with a restaurant and a supermarket 5 minutes away
All have private pools and hot tubs that can be heated
I'm bloody jealous now

MaMaMeeAah · 06/08/2023 08:55

Oh and they have high walls around them so no wind in answer to @cinnamonfrenchtoast

Grab Canaria is usually the warmest Canary Island in February but as @cinnamonfrenchtoast says, the wind can be very high and can make it feel much cooler.

You’ll be best looking at one of the resorts in the South West - Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogan are pretty sheltered. Maspalomas might also be an option.

I believe both Cordial Mogan Playa and Radisson Blu in Puerto de Mogan have a heated pool but it’s worth checking. It’s usually the smaller pool that is heated though so kids equipment might not be warm enough.

@MaMaMeeAah might be thinking of Bahiazul Resort on Fuerteventura

We went to Gran Canaria this Feb. On the weather app it said it was 20 degrees but felt much warmer. During the day we were fine in swimsuits by the pool, the sun was strong enough to burn. You needed a cover up though or towel when you got out the water.

we stayed in the Livvi Taurito (I think that’s the name now as it changed while we were there). The pool was heated and while a bit chill it was ok. There was a water park included but the water there wasn’t heated at all and it was freezing.

You needed a jumper in the evenings, but not during the day.

Can’t say I’ve ever stayed in any of the Canary Islands with a pool warm enough from dec -feb however can recommend this hotel with a wonderful spa. Best spa I’ve stayed at, despite it being only a 3*. Mainly Dutch guests.

IloveJudgeJudy · 06/08/2023 17:38

The pool at the Princess Hotel Taurito was heated last year.

Twizbe · 06/08/2023 20:39

@IloveJudgeJudy thats where we stayed this year.

Batalax · 07/08/2023 11:25

We’ve stayed there too. I did get into the pool in November but I wouldn’t say it was warm.
