Do you have a recurring dream about a place

Over the past few years I've had a recurring dream featuring a very specific area of city. Its not real. Its nowhere I've ever been.

But it's exactly the same each time i dream about It. It feels very real.

It's an old shopping mall but more like a bazaar . Tiny streets with shops selling jewellery & antiques. I'm always searching for a path through it & usually get lost despite recognising where I am

I dreamt about it last night & woke up unsure if it was real or not. It's v odd

Yea I did. Although I don’t remember having it for a while. I’m in a house that is familiar, even though I don’t know where it is and it has a big rolling garden and I’m floating about and holding hands with a boy. A boy who I don’t know on this life. And I like it and I know it’s home although never been anywhere like it. So yes have had the same!

DyslexicPoster · 05/08/2023 23:01

Yes, a few actually. Same beach a lot I have never been to.

I dream about a busy hotel but the servants, maids and butlers are all wearing old fashioned period clothing. It shows several floors of people working in a rather hectic way. It’s like the front wall is removed and I can see them all busily rushing around working. There’s no noise but it’s eerie and I don’t like it.

@ParisDispatches, mine's a lot like yours! Although shopping rather than bazaar. Thing is, my friend thinks he's dreamed of it too... that bit feels spooky because I have never seen this place (if it exists) in real life. Like you say; odd.

ParisDispatches · 05/08/2023 23:12

Oh this is v interesting. Its not a bazaar as such. It's a shopping area but the streets are narrow & it feels old. I don't ever buy anything that I remember but I feel like I'm searching for something. And this is the place I'll find it.

In thr dream as I'm waking to & from.this place I'm tracking landmarks in this city so I csn find my way.

The last few times I've dreamt about it I've woken feeling disconcerted

I dream frequently that I’m in a vacant building where I’m locked in overnight, it’s pitch black, I can’t see a thing. I’m panicking in the dream about how I’ll get out and get home.

Yes, a kind of market, in a large area where I kind of stumble on it, where the stalls are just at the start of packing up. That's the place I don't think exists. And another one, dreaming of my old university halls, but with a lot more levels and corridors and high up doors/rooms with names, not numbers (as they actually were).

applepie04 · 05/08/2023 23:46

Yes I have a recurring dream about a shopping mall as well. Very odd! I've had a few dreams in new places but it usually involves a mix of people I know and people I don't know and it's always in a very realistic but not real place

echt · 05/08/2023 23:49

I have a number of recurrent dreams involving buildings. Without exception they are unsettling, inimical, baffling and threatening.

aintnothinbutagstring · 05/08/2023 23:50

Yes mine is a big hill - like a beautiful steep grassy hill you'd go walking up.. and then the dream it sort of always leads to an entrance of a country park (like if you've ever been to Tatton Park in Cheshire). Really familiar but don't exist in real life.

FictionalCharacter · 06/08/2023 00:00

Yes! I have several regular ones. Very recognisable. It's so strange.

PriamFarrl · 06/08/2023 00:03

Yes. I live in a flat but if I go through a certain door then I’m in a grand home with other people in it. It has a dark marble staircase.

areyouhavinglaugh · 06/08/2023 00:04

@ParisDispatches it's dream about your life and how you've always felt.. as you always have this dream it's about finding your way through things. Streets represent your path. Shops are choices.

Etc

FannyJoan · 06/08/2023 00:05

Now I'm starting to think we really are in a sim! 🤣
I too have regular dreams of being in a dark cold building where I'm trapped.
The next one is that I live in an old Georgian house which overlooks a busy narrow market street. It is several stories high and it always has a secret room that I discover in the dream. I really enjoy that one!

mimiku · 06/08/2023 00:09

I don’t anymore, but for years I had a recurring dream about an airport. It wasn’t a normal airport, it was like a multi-storey car park style and planes would fly out and land on the different levels. So many dreams about this airport and I always woke up before I even made it onto a plane.

PinkArt · 06/08/2023 00:13

Yup, quite a few, although the most regular recurring one is a big hotel with very unpredictable lifts.
Dreams are your head processing things from your life and usually a very literal interpretation helps you work out what your sleeping brain is working through. So lifts, stairs, escalators etc can be about progress in life, career progression or regression perhaps. Vehicles are about change, or more literally, journeys.
If I'm remembering correctly, buildings are 'you' in a dream. So a bazaar has lot of different distractions and you keep losing your way in this one. One interpretation would be that you're feeling you've lost a sense of who you are because of all the other stuff going on in your life at the moment.

ParisDispatches · 06/08/2023 00:16

It's fascinating that so many of us are having such similar dreams

Crossed post with you @PinkArt I've never looked into dream analysis. Thanks for sharing

I used to get regularly reoccurring nightmares that were horrific but I haven't had it in some time and for the life of me I can't recall what it was. I just know that I called them screamers because I would wake up screaming, bit of a fright for my husband 😂😂

Piemam · 06/08/2023 11:07

That is so interesting. @mimiku, I hope you get further next time- please update if you make the flight!
