Who would it be? Just ONE...

Me? Tom Hanks. He's just so awesome and I bet he has so many interesting life stories

Paul Kaye.

Ok. Secrecy .

anyone else want to claim the revd Richard Cole’s as their GBFF. He won’t remember but I was at Saturday music school with him when I was a kid. He understands the musical world I inhabit ( and not many do 😂). But he’s had a wild past , and would hold the best dinner parties ❤️😂

Martina Navratilova - she's my kind of woman - direct, says what needs saying but she seems like good fun to be around - I also think she's quite compassionate and warm - I've liked her since the 80's! This would be no surprise to my wife - they are not dissimilar - but it surprises almost everyone I've ever mentioned this to.

Actual Gary Barlow

Great choices!

Maybe Nigella? She seems very warm and I too love cooking, going out to eat and talking about cookbooks. I’m sure I’d meet the love of my life if I was invited to her naice dinner parties!

Woman friend: Julie Waters.

Male friend: Anton du Beke. Watched his appearance on Life Stories the other day and he's such a genuinely lovely man with a great sense of humour.

Saturnssister · 05/08/2023 21:39

Oh I’d also like Beth Rigby sky news. And Maggie Hambling.

thaegumathteth · 05/08/2023 21:40

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 05/08/2023 21:47

Too late for Paul O'Grady - so, Sir David Attenborough, Ricky Gervais or J.K. Rowling.

drpet49 · 05/08/2023 21:49

Vicky McClure

MadCattenz · 05/08/2023 21:55

We're rewatching S3 of the wire so I'm thinking of this thread

Celledora · 05/08/2023 22:05

A lot of good’un here. Sticking strictly to the question (no FWBs), Amy Poehler.

Bilboard · 05/08/2023 22:18

Katie Price, I feel she needs a really good friend

Hbradley · 05/08/2023 22:18

Katherine Ryan. Not only extremely funny, but a likeable and intelligent person. I love her podcast.

Groutyonehereagain · 05/08/2023 22:32

Dolly Parton, Sarah Millican, JK Rowling, Liza Tarbuck, Carol Voderman

PermanentTemporary · 05/08/2023 22:38

Tamsin Grieg. Undoubtedly in real life i would bore her senseless but in my head we'd get on brilliantly until I made a pass at her

Peanuts2000 · 05/08/2023 22:47

Elton John. I've always loved his music since I was a child and he seems a very caring and generous person.

Also Jo Brand, I've liked her since first seeing her on Channel 4 in the mid 80s, she's so intelligent and funny!

PuppyMcPupFace · 05/08/2023 22:51

Hadley Freeman
Nigella
Hugh Grant
Michael Palin

Please and thank you

Somanycats · 05/08/2023 22:52

Alesha Dixon or Lucy Hedges. Gotta love a woman with a strong laugh.
