How long before your Dad's started their periods after first signs of puberty?

DD9 has just (I think!) Started early puberty, ABIT grumpier, more easily upset, a bit sweaty etc.
How long did it take for your girls to start period? I'm fairly sure my periods started about 6-9 months after me getting stinky pits and pubic hair??

But I was 11 when I started the first signs, not 9!

My gran was 10, my mum 9 and I was 8 when period started. I’m scared my daughter is going to be 7 when hers starts

I was nine when my chest started to get tender - I still remember the day I realized. I was trying to get something out from under the bed and realized I couldn't lie flat without feeling pain. And then I started getting sweaty.

Didn't start my periods until a week before my 12th birthday

Helenloveslee4eva · 05/08/2023 17:50

Average stats say 2yrs. One of mine was investigated extensively for precocious puberty but actually both started periods at 11 and 3m …

KevinDeBrioche · 05/08/2023 18:00

The typo 🤣🤣

73 🤣🤣

DD was 15 1/2 before her first period but been using deodorant/ teenage grumpiness kicked in YEARS before. I think it’s most closely related to body weight from the reading I did when I was getting a bit worried. Although I was also on the late side at just turned 15, and had exactly the same - ectomorph - body shape

It's an autocorrect thing

Well my df had enormous man boob's but no signs of puberty

FoodFann · 05/08/2023 18:17

Started puberty at about 9-10, periods at 13-14

Arniesleftleg · 05/08/2023 18:19

My dad can be quite moody but I'm not sure when he's getting his period!

BorneoBound · 05/08/2023 18:20

I think DD was in year 5/6 when she started puberty and she got her period when she had not long started year 7.

Ventureintheslipstream · 05/08/2023 18:22

These seem super quick to me! My DDs are too young but I started puberty in about year 6 but didn't get my period until just turned 14!

Puberty was a rough old slog for me!

aintnothinbutagstring · 05/08/2023 18:27

No idea about my dad... But DD started with BO, underarm hair way before end of primary however didn't actually get period til y8, I think even end of y8 and she isn't a particularly tiny/underweight child so no idea why it took so long!

TeenLifeMum · 05/08/2023 19:33

From breast budding to periods should be about 18 months. Dd was on the later side so I asked a friend who is a paediatrician and she was spot on. There are exceptions but that’s the general rule apparently.

Same here. DD is nearly 16 and only started hers this summer (similar age to me and my mum so no concerns) but she's been having puberty symptoms for a good few years. She's very skinny and was much smaller than average until the last 6 months and now she's catching up on all the adult women in the family.

KirstenBlest · 05/08/2023 19:42

Never asked him. I didn't think men had periods.

User0224 · 05/08/2023 19:58

I would never ask him such a personal question.

fullbloom87 · 05/08/2023 20:02

9s a normal age.
I was 8 when I started having breast budding and so were all 3 of my daughters.
My 2 eldest had their first period at 12 and 13.
My youngest has a genetic disorder and premature ovarian failure and she had her first and last period at just 10 years old.
She may get her period in 1 year or it could be 4 years. There's really no telling.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/08/2023 20:03

It was about a year for my DD - she was 10 and a half when they started, bless her.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 05/08/2023 20:05

Mine started hers at 10. She was a horrid stroppy little mare for about a year before that 😂
