Hello,

I am really desperately trying to find a specific type of car and have exhausted google/autotrader/local dealerships, so thought I would reach out here and see if anyone is able to please help me!

If so what I am looking for needs to:

  • have THREE FULL SIZE back seats (either 5 or 7 seater) (examples include Ford S-Max, Citroen C4 Picasso, VW Touran etc)
  • be under £6,000
  • be 2017 onwards
-ideally under 100,000 mileage -ideally in or near the Bedfordshire area
  • not imported
-not cat S or N

(Also will not buy off FB marketplace or similar, needs to be reputable website or dealership)

I know I am looking for a very niche vehicle 😬, but if anyone is able to help me out with this I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much 😊

Think your after a unicorn not a car.

Having had a quick look on auto trader your budget is not going to buy you what you’re looking for.
Second hand cars have had a big hike in their value due to issues with importing new ones.

You're having a laugh OP. Add another £10k to your budget and you mind get a couple of bites.

Impossible for 2017 onwards . For 6k you’ll have to go to about 2013 and that’s if you’re lucky!

kitchenhelprequired · 06/08/2023 03:17

You are going to have to make compromises on your criteria as it just isn't available for the price you are looking to pay. Even a fiesta size 2017 model is going to be a push for £6k. I would start by widening search area to nationwide and include the likes of Facebook marketplace - if you can't find what you are looking for then you definitely need to compromise on the rest. You can buy a dud from a dealer or you can pay to have a full AA inspection from a car listed on marketplace so I wouldn't rule search options in or out on some of the criteria stated.

Is there a typo in your OP, do you mean 2007 onwards? Or a budget of under £16k?

I drive a Skoda Citigo, which is one of the smallest, most basic cars you can buy, and you'd struggle to find a 2017 onwards one of those for under £6k, let alone a much larger vehicle.

TogetherInEclecticDreams · 06/08/2023 06:17

Have you seen car prices lately? Seriously, at that price it's likely a scam or a write off. We recently paid that for a ten year old Fiesta for DS.

BarbaraofSeville · 06/08/2023 06:18

I thought I'd found you one OP, but it seems that it is a Japanese import, so while it was registered in the UK in 2019, it's actually a 2009 car. But otherwise it looks promising, 74k miles, FSH. I don't fully understand the implications of an imported car, but Subaru nerd DP is always talking about importing one from Japan because they're somehow better than those supplied to the UK market.

I don't think you would find that in your price range. Smaller cars that are 2014/2015 reg are going for 5/6 grand

GreenMonstersParty · 06/08/2023 06:33

I drive one of the cars you have listed & there is no way your budget will get you one.

Mine is a 2017 plate & cost £14K in 2019. Its worth more now than what I bought it for due to the 2nd hand car market changing so much.

Its very hard to get a cheap car now - a friends dc just bought a 2011 plate polo for £6K.
