Where would you rather sit in a theatre?

Stalls (about half way back) or first row of the circle? Tickets are the same price, I can't decide.

Smallish theatre (specifically Buxton opera house)

Dave Gorman, who I LOVE has released more dates, I missed out last time so am very excited!

Hi @Eminybob i watched Aladdin second from front row in the circle and i watched The Lion King from the first set of stalls. For me the stalls were better, i found i was looking down the whole time from the circle. Have a lovely time x

Front row of the circle for me.

Front row of the circle for me.

Me too.

Definitely front row of circle. No chance of a giant sitting in front of you blocking the view.
Also, if you are shy like me, avoid front stalls at comedy shows.

Which circle - dress circle (1st level up) the front row centre are pretty much the best seats in the house.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 05/08/2023 05:43

Stalls for me

Celticdawn5 · 05/08/2023 05:49

Circle
preferably at the end of a row

Westfacing · 05/08/2023 05:52

Front row of the circle, assuming the barrier doesn't spoil the view

Stopsnowing · 05/08/2023 06:04

Depends a bit if the stalls have a good rake or have an overhang. But generally front row dress.

Definitely this.

If I didn't know the theatre well I'd probably opt for the circle for safety as I'm short, but I'd begrudge it.

PermanentTemporary · 05/08/2023 06:17

Circle every time.

I've only ever been downstairs in a theatre once when we saw Saxon, a very loud rock band and even with a bit of cotton wool in my ears (as high-tech as we got in those days) the sound was very loud indeed. It made my ears ring for a fair few hours.

I'm mostly somewhere in the centre of the dress circle - although looking down I think the view is better. I don't like being the centre of attention so I'd feel safer if I was watching a comedian. If they decided to tease a member of the audience I'd feel that they would be much less likely to pick on me.

Avoid the boxes. We tried a box on the left (facing the stage) at Buxton Opera house once as a treat and could only see half the stage. Unfortunately the action for the first half all took place on the side we couldn't see....

Gateappreciation · 05/08/2023 08:49

Stalks , on the aisle or end of row (hate feeling trapped in).

SheRaaaaa · 05/08/2023 09:01

I will only go if we can get front row of the circle, first two seats of the row.

Eminybob · 05/08/2023 09:04

Definitely a mix of responses! I have always gone stalls in the past, probably because front of circle sells out quickly.

Anyway, it's a moot point now, as due to my dithering the seats I was looking at have sold. Stalls it is (just a couple in from centre aisle halfway down)
