Will be there next weekend and am overwhelmed by the choice on the website. Probably comedy, possibly theatre?

I've seen 2 amazing things already this year (both theatre) -

In Loyal Company (on at the Pleasance Courtyard at 1.30pm) - based on a true world war 2 story. Incredibly acted and moving, we were gripped and haven't stopped telling people about it since.

Quality of mercy (surgeons hall 5.35pm) - a play about Harold Shipman, quite dark (obviously) but really well done and very respectful of the victims.

For comedy / musical, we see showstopper at the pleasance grand every year - a big production, v funny and an easy watch!

I’ve no specific recommendations but there’s an app called ‘Free festival’ which tells you what free shows are starting near you soon. I’ve had good successes with free shows where there’s a few different comedians. If any of them are good then I try to see their show.

Thanks both, I’ve booked In Loyal Company. Can’t make the showstopper one as I’ve also booked Kathy and Stella solve a Murder which sounds good and the times clash. I’m only in Edinburgh for 24 hrs! I’ll download that app and maybe try and wing the rest of the time using that.

If you want to back a woman newbie-Lorna Rose Treen is worth a punt at the Pleasance.

I’m going to see Matt Forde next weekend - who has “the political party” podcast so looking forward to some political satire.
Going to also see Stuart Mitchell’s work in progress show. I follow him on Tik tok and he is hilarious.

Following as I might do a fringe day later this week.

Really would like to see What Girls are Made Of, but I'm not sure if I can justify the £27 for a ticket.
