Im looking for recommendations for a stay 1/2 nights in a UK hotel in a nice town for my dad and his wife to be as a wedding gift.

They enjoy visiting new towns and visiting little shops and pub lunches etc.

any recommendations?

Thanks!

I’d suggest Oxford. There are lots of little boutique type hotels still there, I think.

Where do they live and how far would they travel? Assume they wouldn’t want to travel for hours for 1 or 2 nights.

Is the New Forest too far? Probably. I haven’t been in years but Dh and I used to drive there a lot when we were newly together and I have lovely memories of it being really rainy and we’d just turn up at a pub on a Friday night and find somewhere to stay for the weekend. It’s so pretty, lots of little cute places to walk about and stay.

What about The Pig near Arundel?

Rocknrollstar · 04/08/2023 21:24

Canterbury, Whitstable, Margate (Walpole Bay Hotel is lovely).
Chichester or somewhere near Hever or Leeds Castles.

Burford - beautiful Cotswolds village with lots of lovely boutiquey hotels.

The Pig near Arundel is a great shout @tealgate

Rye is a lovely town for a weekend, great little shops, good history, beautiful sea views and great beaches nearby. If they’d prefer modern luxury then the Gallivant, if they’d rather more traditional and in the centre of town then The Mermaid Inn.

Chichester is also a really lovely size for a weekend. Again good restaurants and independent shops, the cathedral, nice history and sightseeing. The East Wall Hotel and The Harbour Hotel are both nice.

Salisbury, Winchester, Arundel

Rye is lovely! Good Groupon deal for the fabulous Mermaid Inn at the moment too!
