All inclusive holiday question

Bluestoat · 04/08/2023 15:36

we going on an all inclusive holiday on Monday to Portugal. I’ve never done all inclusive before- in fact, the kids have never been abroad before. Or stayed in a hotel.
anyway. My question. Do we need to take beach towels? Is that included? I can’t find an answer on the hotel website! Are they usually provided?

I think you'd be best placed emailing the hotel to clarify.

However, IMO, you will most likely be provided with towels for use in the bathroom - but NOT beach towels for use by the pool.

Towels for the pool have always been included whenever I've gone all inclusive. Occasionally you leave a €10 euro refundable deposit.

AppleKatie · 04/08/2023 15:40

They usually are but it’s not a definite you would need to contact the hotel to be sure (or shove a few in the case for peace of mind).

I've only had pool towels in Turkey, never in the canaries or Spain when we've been.

Go on TripAdvisor, search the hotel and then search 'towels' in the reviews if it doesn't tell you in the hotel blurb x

Xrays · 04/08/2023 15:44

Every resort is different. You’d need to contact them directly to confirm or check whether there’s a hotel group fan page on Facebook where you can post and ask. (Search for the hotel name). The resort we stayed in in Ibiza provided towels for both the room and the beach.

BirdIsland · 04/08/2023 15:47

We've just a arrived at an AI in Spain - towels available, you just need to pay a deposit at reception. I think it was €20 per towel but that seems a lot so I might be wrong!

Iamonholiday · 04/08/2023 15:53

The big AI places we’ve been to towels for the sun beds / beach are included and you get towel cards like a credit card type thing that you hand over to get a towel, and it then gets returned when you take your towel back. The smaller place I went to earlier this year didn’t have any beach / pool towels available.

Silkierabbit · 04/08/2023 15:54

It will vary by hotel whether included or not, we generally take our own.

Gymmum82 · 04/08/2023 15:55

We’ve been on lots of AI. It totally depends on the resort. Some they are. Some not. Some require a deposit. Some don’t. Best to check with the hotel

Ohmylovejune · 04/08/2023 16:02

Our AI had coloured pool towels and white room towels. Pool towels could be replaced with the "pool towel guy" when used. He used to make sure the loungers were dry in the morning after the early morning dew, and would put the parasols up and down!

We only had to take beach towels.

Monkeybutt1 · 04/08/2023 16:04

Is there a Facebook group for your hotel, we find there often is. Someone on there will be able to help

Minniem2020 · 04/08/2023 16:07

Very much depends on the hotel op. Where are you staying?

diamondpony80 · 04/08/2023 16:08

We've always been provided with towels for use by the pool in Spain and Portugal but bring our own for the beach. If they're not mentioned on the website though you'd have to check. Tripadvisor reviews might also provide some useful information about your hotel.

Invisimamma · 04/08/2023 16:13

Some do towels, some don't. Check TripAdvisor if you can't find the info from the hotel.

Even if they are provided you'll still need some of your own for the beach and water parks.

TheMerryWidow1 · 04/08/2023 16:22

Hi op, I still take our own towels as hotel ones aren’t always great and never long enough for sun beds.

Bluestoat · 04/08/2023 16:28

thanks! Am a bit strangely nervous about this ai holiday. Really don’t know what to expect- we usually go camping! Good tip to check trip advisor- will do that now!

Fupoffyagrasshole · 04/08/2023 16:35

i mean you can always buy a towel in a shop in the town for a tenner or whatever (unless you are staying in the middle of nowhere!)

i wouldn't stress

Flowers94 · 04/08/2023 16:36

We go to Egypt a lot and they provide towels but when we’ve been to Spain, canaries ect they haven’t.
I always forget them anyway regardless of whether they’re provided and they’re cheap enough to buy whilst you’re away

TenderDandelions · 04/08/2023 16:38

Depends on the hotel definitely. IME the posher the hotel, the more likelihood it'll be included.

As PP have said, you may have to leave a deposit, or they may note your room number, to make sure they get them back.

Have a look on TripAdvisor if you don't get any joy elsewhere - someone may have mentioned it in a review.

Alternatively, buy some microfibre compact ones on Amazon Prime!

CatsOnTheChair · 04/08/2023 16:41

We bought cheap microfiber towels from Amazon for our recent holiday. They were great as they dried fast, and were small and light.
The room towels were not for use out of the room, but there was a voucher system - pay X for a voucher, and then swap for a new towel or a voucher each time - so you took a voucher back each night, and got a clean towel as often as you wanted during the day. Get your money back on the last day.

Ohmylovejune · 04/08/2023 16:46

Generally you can buy most things when you are there if you forget. Although the hotel shop might be expensive a trip into the local town will.no doubt have what you need and you'll have souvenirs at the same time!

I remember we forgot to take beach towels when we were staying in Greece just before they held the Athens Olympics. So we bought commemorative Olympic towels to use.

Mushroo · 04/08/2023 16:48

I’ve never been somewhere they haven’t been included but clearly I’m wrong!

In my experience they have a towel person giving them out when you arrive at the pool, and you return them at the end of the day for washing.

Im now also worried and will check with the hotel.

Quitelikeacatslife · 04/08/2023 16:49

I'd email hotel to ask. Last hotel I stayed at provided pool/beach towels rolled in a lovely whicker bag. Lots of places provide pool towels but not supposed to take them to beach (unless hotels own beach) ie not really allowed to take to public beach

Bloodyleaverspartybollocks · 05/08/2023 08:22

All the AI we've ever done has provided towels. Generally get a card when you check in that you exchange for towels and you can change them as often as you want. Never not been able to take them to the beach either
Find a Facebook page for the hotel and it will be on there for sure. Or post the hours here and someone will know/find out
