What’s the difference between a Times Top Ten book and a book that sold in the top ten?

They are the same?

Sunday Times Top Ten uses Neilson BookScan sales data which comes from a wide range of book retailers. The Saturday top ten you see in the Times is based only on Waterstones data. Then there's the Amazon chart, independent booksellers chart - probably more! The Sunday Times one has the most prestige and is the most accurate reflection of all sales in the week.

Well I never knew that. I didn’t realise there were different types of top ten! Thank you for explaining!

WH Smiths have a chart too, just remembered! So there definitely are several, but the Sunday Times is regarded as the official one I guess.
