I've got a giffgaff account with 1GB a month.
I listen to the radio a lot and podcasts which i download if I'm not listening at home.
I've recently been given a new phone ,a pixel 6.
I've had to download an app Radio United UK to listen to radio 4. It doesn't stay tuned to R4 and jumps from station to station . As a result I've started listening to R4 via Sounds.
Does this listening to R4 via Sounds use more data than the radio app because it's streamed ?

Is the radio app not streaming too? You can download stuff from Sounds so you aren't streaming but if you want to listen live then surely you're using data if put and about whether that's using Sounds or this other app I've never heard of

I suppose I thought it was possible to use the phone as a radio receiver. Like when you use a radio at home .

No, a Pixel doesn't have a radio receiver in it. Whatever app/website you use you will be using your data. As a PP said, you can download most BBC radio shows at home on your wifi to listen to later when you're out and about.

Do other phones have a radio receiver @rbe78 ?
