Quick question about those Cricut things

I find myself struggling with a couple of projects.
First one, I need a stencil so that I can paint a shape in a repeating pattern onto the wall and the second I have a mirror I’d like to add text to similar to the picture.

Would one of these Cricut Joys be capable of this? I’m thinking it also might be useful for car decals as well down the line. I know nothing about the things at all so any help appreciated.

And no, the wall art isn’t live laugh love 😂

The joy would be fine for what you describe, but they do get addictive and you might want to upgrade one day 🤣

Excellent, thanks!
I can think of a few bits I’d use one for, but I don’t think I’d want to spend more than the basic joy just in case I don’t use it.
would I need to buy anything like mats and knives with it or does it come with them?

thanks!

Yes it’ll handle it - what’s the pattern/where have you made it or got it from? You want to make sure it’s compatible with cricut design space.

If you’re not buying a bundle, you’ll need to buy mats , vinyl and a weeding tool kit at a minimum .

@Cirice Slippery slope warning. It is addictive. I have a silhouette cameo (early version of a Cricut back when Cricut used cartridges rather than online cutting files) and recently did an entire wall using a stencil cut on it. I can highly recommend the Mylar sheets I used

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08QRQ11S2

use one as a test sheet to work out what cut settings you need ie don't cut the stencil first, just small shapes to test the depth of the cut needed.

Thanks again all.
I have the image I want as an SVG file so don’t envisage problems there. Trying to work out whether it’s cheaper to buy the Argos Bundle or separate on Amazon at the moment.

I’ve thought of a dozen things I could do with it this morning. 😂

Thanks for the Mylar recommendation too! It’s a reasonably fiddly stencil in some parts so I’ll have to find a few YouTube tutorials to see how it works.

I would go for the highest spec you can afford because as others have said, it's addictive! Look at the Explore 3 etc as well - they offer even more flexibility and crafty ideas.

also, beware that you need to buy new blades relatively often, and the blades / vinyl / accessories all add up in cost.

if you have a laptop and an idea about graphic design, making your own designs in Powerpoint or an SVG editor can give you much more flexibility than using other people's designs that you have to pay for.

This is where I'm thinking me and this machine might get along well.... I have a degree in Graphic design 😁

I'd love the Explore, bigger is always better, but I doubt I can persuade DH to that much of the monthly budget, though his interested has peaked a little now he realises I could make graphics for his car....

I've got the Joy in my basket, along with a set of mats, vinyl transfer sheet, weeding tools and a selection of coloured vinyls. Is there anything else you all think I need before I click on the buy button?
