On holiday- travel insurance- too late?

Hi, we are in France on holiday and have realised that 3 members of our family don’t have valid travel insurance. Can we still buy insurance even thought we are already on the holiday?

By the time I can do it on the phone (atrocious signal), it’s taking 19 minutes to load a single page, we will have been on holiday more than 24 hours.

what are the rules please!?

Get ghic cards ordered as they go some of the way in a medical situation and the email will suffice.

I think insurance needs to be bought before you leave the UK.

Generally you can only purchase standard policies before you travel. Even if you can the chances are they won't let you claim anyway because they would assume you only took it out because you had a problem.

For medical you can use a ghic, you can apply online

single trip definitely not but an annual policy might be ok eg to start tomorrow.

holiday extras are a good company to use (although the actual insurance is not through them)- if you call and speak to them they’re usually very helpful

needs to be purchased prior to travel, is usually in t&c’s. Is someone in your party ill? GHIC card will afford you the same healthcare a local would receive, you can apply online, cards can take upto 15 days to arrive, these are free if you apply on the official site not through a 3rd party.
