A cold for nearly a month?

About 3.5 weeks ago a started coming down with a cold. The usual, blocked nose. Cough, sore throat etc. Except 3.5 weeks in and I’m no better. Went to the docs who said it’s sinusitis but it’s just a virus. Go away basically.

I feel SO poorly and it’s not getting better. My ears are so blocked I can barely hear and they are ringing so loud like tinnitus.
My nose is blocked. I’m coughing. Headachy. I can’t smell anything. I honestly haven’t felt this unwell in years.

Is this what sinusitis is like? Can I do anything? When will it go away? I’m so miserable and exhausted as I can’t sleep due to the coughing. Blocked nose and the constant ringing in my ears.

I feel so pathetic but I’m so poorly. Anyone had this? Any suggestions?

COVID?

Likely resulting from covid. I had a bad bout in May like that and it lasted 10 weeks. New variant going around. Supplements do not work. Don't waste your money. Hydrate, rest, make sure you eat properly. Try using neti pot/sinus rinse throughout the day for relief and nasal sprays at night for a few nights.

COVID?

I honestly don’t know. I have had Covid before and it was nothing like this. Covid was a tight chest and dry cough whereas this is a wet cough and no chest tightness. When it came on it felt like a cold so didn’t test. I have since which was negative. But not sure if I missed the window.
Even Covid is normally over within 3.5 weeks no?

Any virus can linger. Most don't, but anyone can be unlucky.

The best thing to do would be a few days total rest and very healthy diet for vitamins etc.

Thanks for this. 10 weeks sounds totally miserable. Will have a look for the sinus rinse you mentioned. I’ve been using the spray at night just so I can breathe. The blocked ears are just unbearable 😭

The brand I've used for years is Neil Med. I am in Canada though. It's very easy: a squeeze bottle with pre-measured saline packs (breathe out while you squeeze the bottle and the water will easily run out your other nostril). Try Amazon UK? Just remember to only use boiled and cooled water (cool to 38c-40c for use). At least 1-2x p/year I see news items about people who use water from the tap/not thoroughly boiled and unluckily come into contact with a brain infecting amoeba in their water supply...
