Returning missed calls from random numbers

I hate doing this! Someone called me an hour ago. Not using a private caller ID or a unknown number, I can see the actual mobile number in my missed calls list but it isn’t one that’s in my contacts list.

To top it off, they haven’t left a voice Mail either so I’ve absolutely no idea who I’m returning a call to.

I feel really awkward doing it, I’m just like “hello, you called me and I’m just returning your call?”

What does everyone else say?

I don't answer them as I believe scammers pass your number round when they know it's a 'live' number.

It's really annoying that doctors and hospitals often come through as unknown/no caller id, why can't they sort this out?

I google the number and ignore it. 99% of the time it's a scam. If it's important they'll call again.

I never return calls from randoms

I ignore those calls. If they have a legitimate reason for contacting you they will leave a message.
