I don't think I really understand what a fascist is.

I really hope I don't get grief & accusations of being homophobic from this as I genuinely am NOT! But one thing I truly don't understand, is why in many lesbian relationships, there is one who is very masculine and then with gay male couples, there's usually one who is very feminine in nature) Obviously I'm NOT saying I believe there's anything at all 'wrong' with it, I just wondered if there was something I wasn't understanding? Perhaps it's just coincidence as I'm not massively social so I don't get out very much! I've just never met or known it to be any other way. Whereas with heterosexual couples, femininity & masculinity seems to vary massively from couple to couple.

I think this is just your circle. I've never noticed it myself.

I lived in Australia for a while, I didn't know what a capsicum was so anytime I saw it on a menu I asked for no capsicum. It was ages later I saw in a supermarket that it was a pepper. But I never asked anyone what it was.

Quite a few of the processes in the job I've had for thirty years and am well paid for.

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain i understand normal procurement practices just not the approach my organisation uses. It goes wrong a lot but I’m surprised it ever goes right.

Space time.

I've watched endless documentaries by Brian Cox and what not.

How can time and space be one thing? How can time "bend"?

I don't get it.

Spacetime!

I usually last a couple of sentences, then whoosh, it's over my head.

TokyoSushi · 03/08/2023 14:37

Maths. I can barely do any maths at all apart from very simple sums. I manage to hide it very well in my fairly senior job!

LongTermLurker · 03/08/2023 14:37

How the earth, moon, and sun move in relation to each other. Especially the moon!

Effect is a noun and affect is a verb .

But effect can also be a verb. You can effect a change.

girlygirly · 03/08/2023 14:39

Black holes. Or anything Stacy really. How can a solid object (planet) implode on itself and become a hole that sucks other stuff in?

pontipinemum · 03/08/2023 14:39

@TeenLifeMum I raise POs and don't really understand most of the stuff the lads are ordering!
Basically:

Bob will email me saying pontipine I want to buy 100 bolts from Metal Ltd costing £1 each.
I will create a PO for 100 bolts to be purchased from Metal Ltd at £1 each.
I will send it to Bob, who will send it to his contact in Metal Ltd.
His contact in Metal Ltd will send him the bolts and send the PO to their accounts.
Their accounts will raise an invoice for the bolts and send it to me.
I will then get an invoice from Metal Ltd, and check my PO register and match it.
If it doesn't match I will check out why. Such as we might be invoiced for 110 bolts, or charged £1.20 per bolt

If Bob had just ordered the bolts without getting a PO when Metal ltd and they sent the invoice I would not know if it was legit or not. I work for a small company so I would investigate. But bigger companies would just straight away send back the invoice to ask for a PO.

It stops employees buying things they shouldn't as well.

That was long winded!

ArbitraryHaddock · 03/08/2023 14:39

Electricity. I understand that to get it to work, you need to create a circuit around which it flows. Which you do by plugging in a device. But how does it then not just flow back into the wall/to the electric company to use again?

Maths I literally don't understand any of it
I can budget to the last penny but that's all
I think I may have dyscalculia as part of my Neuro disability
It's clearly not genetic as my DS is a business modelling accountant!

weleasewoderick23 · 03/08/2023 14:42

How to fill out a lottery ticket - good job I'm not bothered. I buy them as Christmas presents and always get lucky dips.

I've got a masters too!

Former payables here and that pretty much covers it.

How your body can make a tiny human being in 9 months. 9 fecking months to go from liquid to person. Just wow and how

madeinmanc · 03/08/2023 14:43

@TokyoStories Your example doesn't take into account the fact "effect" when used as a verb can't be thought of as "the result of a change", so this explanation will further confuse those who don't get it.

Thisishard23 · 03/08/2023 14:43

How to program the hot water timer.

Statistics. And I work with people who are experts at it.

AllOfThemWitches · 03/08/2023 14:44

Time loop stuff, cannot get my head round it.

Comedycook · 03/08/2023 14:45

Despite my a level in economics I get really confused when currency exchange rates are discussed. So if someone said the pound is strong against the dollar I have to close my eyes and literally imagine the coins on the table to work out what it means.

RenoDakota · 03/08/2023 14:45

Don't understand what is going on in the Middle East and why I am supposed to support Palestine over Israel.

Answers won't make any difference, unfortunately. I still do not know whether Ginster's is pronounced with a hard or soft G, despite having heard it a million times. Same with football leagues and which is the best out of the Premiership and the Championship.

Think it might be something to do with being too bored to properly 'hear' the answers.

The 18th century

Was this the 1700's or the 1800's??

Also, how bridges are built

1700's.

Think of it like years 0-99 are the first century, so years 100-199 are the second even though the number begins with a 1.

I have to think about left and right every time, I don’t know it instinctively like everyone else seems to.

Stick your thumbs out. Your left hand will make an L for left. (palms down or it doesn't work.).👐
