Do those vacuum storage bags work?

My friend has some and they looked great, but after a day or so most of them have let the air in! He's taken some stuff out and trying again, so maybe he overfilled then. Or is it a case of getting what you pay for? I think these were fairly cheap ones, from Argos.

Nature abhors a vacuum, they always decay.

Yes they work, it sounds like your friend didn’t seal them closed properly.

I've got some to store my winter clothes and bedding and they stay sealed for months so I suspect your friend is either not sealing them correctly or has just bought some duds!

Thank you! He sent me a photo of them all nearly stacked in a cupboard and I got very overexcited at the thought of freeing up that space in my own chaos...😁 I'll tell him to read the instructions again!

My sons clothes were literally stored for 4 years until my most recent son arrived - they never let air in and were tossed all over in a house move!
They also spent some time in a stinky garage, the bags smelled but the clothes inside never did

That's reassuring, thank you! I might give them a go but will maybe avoid the Argos ones - are any brands better than others? I can see some heavy-duty Gorilla ones on Amazon.

I've had mixed experiences. With some it's quite hard to get them sealed properly in the first place.

@MimiThePink ive had the Argos ones and loads and loads from B&M. Some of them work different in terms of the actual vacuum suction bit thingy but all have lasted the same

I tried them from Amazon once, but couldn't get to grips with them at all.

A lot of faffing about and I quickly gave up, but that's probably just me.

Use full sized clear storage bags now that fit in the Attic or under a bed, much easier to see everything in there and far more accessible.
