Has anyone used babbel or duolingo or anything similar? Are they any good / worth the cost?

Duolingo is free and excellent ( ex language teacher here!)

Duolingo is free

I love it

I’ve started learning Spanish on DuoLingo and the basic version is free.

It’s good and it’s easy to find a few minutes every day to do the lessons. I’m going to get myself an old-fashioned grammar book as well though, because I find it easier to learn conjugated verbs by rote. Combined with the app, I think it’ll work for me.

I'm only on Unit 2, I can greet people, drink water and eat bread or apples. 🤣

I love Duolingo and now have the paid version. It's really easy to fit into your day and makes learning much more organic experience.

What do you get with the paid version, @Tinytigertail ? I might upgrade if it’s worth it.

Another vote for Duolingo. Learning Norwegian currently and doing the odd improvement lesson in Spanish, French and German. I do like the paid version as it allows me to do personalised lessons that are just reviewing mistakes I've made in previous lessons that I might otherwise not go back and look at on the free version. There are other benefits (unlimited hearts and goes at legendary challenges and the ad-free experience), but the mistakes review is the one I like best.

Love Duolingo. Started French in October 21 and haven't missed a day since. And this year I added Italian and German. I have the paid version. Well worth the money.

I love Duolingo too, I've had the paid version for a couple of years. It has given me the basics in a few languages (I'm not aiming to become fluent in any of them).

I pay for Duolingo. I love it. You get 5 (I think) members on the family plan so you can split the cost with friends if you have friends who want to do it too. DD who is 12 loves it and it’s offered her the opportunity to do a language that her school doesn’t offer.
