We have two very hairy cats, and two very hairy and mucky dogs.

The cats roam the house including the light-coloured carpeted areas. They have very delicate stomachs so often cough up fur balls onto the carpet.
Delightful.
They eat a brown, dried food so there is some staining that we obviously clean asap but the carpets are looking marked in some places.

The dogs stay downstairs so no carpet, but they like to sit on the couches with their muddy paws. They also take their treats/chews onto the sofa when we’re not looking.

I’d like some kind of a carpet cleaning machine that also does upholstered furniture but would be able to cope with pet hair.

Does anyone have any recommendations, please?

The only brand I’m really familiar with is Vax because we had a massive orange one growing up in the 80s and it was an all-day job to get it out. I’m like something not too big so it’s easy to store, and suitable for spot-cleaning.

I have a shark and love it, it's starting to be a bit old now but ill be replacing it with another shark when it dies. I have 2 GSDs, 1 short and 1 long hair.

I have a Bissellcarpet cleaner and it’s great. Never done sofas with it as my sofas are leather.

I vacuum with my Shark upright before washing the carpets so pet hair not an issue.

Ive just bought a Vax Rapid Power carpet cleaner, hose attachment so you can use it on stairs and upholstery. Only used it on sons bedroom carpet so far but was impressed, pile on csrpet was flat but its brought it up again. Two dogs here also. I got it from Argos on offer

I have a vax and while we don't have pets (or at least not ones that are allowed on carpeted areas/furniture), so can't comment how it would be with pet hair, it's been great in terms of cleaning up children's vomit and all the food that gets smooshed into the sofa when I'm not looking.

Thanks everyone.

I wasn’t familiar with Bissell as a brand but when I started looking, I discovered that their spot cleaners are more powerful than the Vax ones- 750w vs. 400w.

Think I’ll go for the Bissell Spotclean Pet Pro. If anyone has this specific model and can share feedback, I’d appreciate it.
