I had never heard of this until last night on the regional news and I live on the mainland not many miles away from the IOM. That ‘misadventure’ verdict definitely needs revisiting/revising. I wouldn’t like to speculate why a complex built cheaply to attract visitors from Merseyside and surrounding areas went on fire so easily and why the people in there at the time were held partially to blame with the verdict, but I do hope further enquiries investigate that aspect.

I read an interview from a lady who was in there as a child, her mum and best friend died. I can't believe this isnt more well known, I only heard about it in the past month.

I read the same article as @userxx. Heartbreaking. This shouldnt have happened. It made me so angry to read the story.

my word that is a heart breaking read. I don't ever remember hearing about it. I hope the families get the apology.

I'm from a Manx family, and knew Summerland very well. We were there as a family a couple of evenings previously for a summer treat. I was 13 when the fire happened and even at that young age I just couldn't believe that in the end, everyone got away with it.

It was a horrific fire that was fuelled by negligence, greed, inadequate fire safety checks, dodgy materials and locked fire doors. Sickening.

I knew nothing about it at all, it sounds absolutely terrifying

I even went to the IOM on a school trip and nothing was mentioned, it's been very well covered up.
