Given Notice on Property - need some positivity

We've been in our current rental for 8 years and have today received two months notice.

There isn't much around at the moment and everything that is is £4-500 more a month. We also have two cats which might prove difficult.

Our DD is also in her last year of school.

It's all so shit. Private rental is shit. How the whims of one family can have such a dramatic impact on another.

I feel sick and I'm trying to plod through at work.

Can I get some positive hand holds?

Do you have a good relationship with your landlord ? So that you could ask to extend that notice period?

Do you know the reason why you've been evicted?

Do you know it is a 'whim'?
For the next rental, get s fixed term 1 or 2or 3 contract and then 3 months before the renewal arrange the next fixed term. Then at least you will know where you stand ahrad of time. If you just have a run/on contract then you live with permanent uncertainty.

Really sorry that this has happened OP, it happened to us a couple of years ago and I remember how helpless it makes you feel. Sending lots of positive vibes your way.

It actually turned out to be one of the best things that could have happened for me, spurred me on to get a new job and move 200+ miles away and we now own a house which wouldn't have been possible had we stayed there (London)

We did have to move to another rental first with a cat and a dog and ended up having to offer more rent. I also sent all the local estate agents all my info and references from other landlords and kept calling them most days, it did take a while and was super stressful.

It's really shit it's happened in the last year of school, I hope you manage to find something better
