Because I'm driving myself bonkers trying to find a pair that DD6 likes. Apparently all my ideas are too babyish.

Could you not just take her to a shoe shop to see what pair she likes?

OnionBhajis · 02/08/2023 09:36

Yes at 6 it won't matter what pictures we show you. Go to a good shoe shop and see what fits. Then out of those choose her favourite.

We always emphasised fit over style though. No point looking online at a shoe with butterflies if it doesn't fit.

Where do people go shoe shopping? Our town has closed down Clarkes and Next...supermarkets?

Go to a shoe shop!

My oldest DD has very wide feet (H) which reduces the available range.

For some strange reason youngest DD has very narrow feet (D) which also reduces availability.

We have an hour drive to the nearest shoe shop!

Thankfully DDs primary school have the good sense to let them wear trainers, no colour or design requirements other than that they are comfortable, practical and fit.

Dreading secondary when they have stupid blazer, smart shoes and ties uniform.

Have you got a sainsburys near you, the shoezone shoes are really good. First couple of years of primary before they moved to the 'just wear trainers' approach we got Sainsburys school shoes and they lasted really well.

Hi op I can’t help with pictures as my dd is 12 now and is going into year 8 ( has chosen the exact same pair of school shoes as y7 which are Doc Martens t bar patent leather and are the only shoes which have lasted the entire school year but are sadly too small now but in perfect condition ) however at 6 there was soo much choice. We used to get Lelli Kelly’s and Kickers mainly and for extra pairs I would always gravitate towards Next which have hundreds of styles.

ive never thought much of Clark’s shoes and they’re a bit crap to be honest and also for budget options ( or extra pairs throughout the year ) the supermarkets are brilliant value.

at 6 I would expect dd to have an input and opinion but ultimately you know which shoes will last and are value for money etc.
also all of the above will deliver. Good luck 🤞

Surely at some point during the summer holidays you will go near a shoe shop? It's still best to go to one as if you order shoes online, you won't know if they fit/are comfortable beforehand and you can waste a lot of time and money keep having to return shoes and claim refunds.

Chunky Mary janes with bow on front from next seem to be popular in our school or similar but that's what I got my dd 7
