What to see in LA with children

Hi

We will be taking kids (10 and 8 yo) to LA in October. We have planned Disney / Universal. We will be staying near Venice beach and have a few spare days

any recommendations for what to do? I’m thinking a couple of days at the beach (while we get over jet lag), a day sightseeing (Hollywood sign and walk of fame - where else?) and maybe going to La Brea Tar Pits. Any recommendations?

Definitely walk along to Santa Monica beach/pier rather than Venice Beach. There's a lot of 'down and outs' that hang around the Venice Beach area.

We saw a concert at Hollywood bowl, went to the Getty museum, did the walk of fame thing, Santa Monica pier

Ds loves the Hollywood Wax Museum it’s so bad it’s often guess the famous person

Getty, Japanese Science and Space Craft museums

Venice Beach isn’t nice many many homeless and unwell people I find the place depressing but away from the beach some parts are nice and love watching the skaters

If I remember correctly, there's a big aquarium if you can get to Long Beach in Orange County.

Warner brothers studio was amazing. The Hollywood bus tour was good too, seeing all the celebrities houses.

We went horse riding round the Hollywood sign when mine were similar ages. It was fantastic and they still talk about it now. Sunset ranch I think the company was called

Do your kids have folding scooters? We sling them into suitcases and have had amazing fun in Central Park and Santa Monica beach path, otherwise hire skates!

Drive up to Malibu, there are pumpkin patches everywhere as it'll be Halloween.

Cheesecake Factory at Marina del Ray to knock there little socks off.

We went to the Griffith observatory, Santa Monica pier, Hollywood walk of fame, there is a huge funko pop shop in Hollywood blvd my kids loved this, spent ages in there and made a pop figure of themselves.
we also went rodeo drive/ Beverly Hills but that was more for me and my older teens, youngest found it boring. Warner bros studio tour was good too.
