Worried about how much milk my 8 month old is drinking

Or not drinking I should say! In 24 hours she will drink around 200mls, but the guidelines say 600-800 for her age (she's 10 days away from turning 9 months old).

She's much more keen on food - will eat pretty much anything and she has a varied diet. I do offer water too but that's basically refused.

She has plenty of wet and dirty nappies and definitely isn't dehydrated. But she barely drinks milk any more and I'm worried.

Anyone with similar babies??

Do your meals contain lots of liquid? For example if she eats porridge for breakfast then she will be eating a lot more milk than if she has toast.

Is it not 500mls at that age and any dairy products, milk in cereal, etc counts towards that amount?

When are you offering milk? I didn't offer at the same time as food and gave it between meals

My daughter is 9 months old and her milk has dropped loads since weaning. She eats really well and I just try and get as much milk into her through food as possible. So breakfast is a weetabix with 100ml of formula mixed in. I add formula to mashed potato and to 'loosen' a lot of foods. I also offer yogurt and cheese. If she seems hungry in the afternoon I'll offer a small 4oz bottle but she usually just has her bedtime bottle which can be anywhere from 100ml-200ml depending on what she's eaten and the 100ml I use to make her weetabix. She does have a bottle in the night usually when she's knackered which I'm happy for her to have as she's getting such little milk otherwise. It's stressful but I don't think there's much we can do if they don't want it. However I don't think your 600ml-800ml figure is right I think it's more like 400ml-500ml at this age if that sets your mind at ease at all.

Just make sure she is having a multivitamin and is getting enough calcium. How often are you giving her food?

It used to be milk to drink and any in food. Would she eat rice pudding, yogurt, cheese, mashed potato with milk and butter?

My DS loved milk but when I was small I didn't apparently. I used to love yogurt though.

2 of mine loved milk and 2 pretty much had given it up by 10 months.

Concentrate on a balanced diet that compensates for reduced milk intake.

Interestingly mine are all cows milk intolerant.
