How much to tip reception?

Great service from a Premier Inn receptionist, checking my elderly parents and switching rooms, phoning me etc, they probably will be staying at the same location again in the future. Is £20 about right?

Nothing. It's their job. Wouldn't cross my mind to tip. I would say thank you nicely.

Don't tip, it's weird.

I'd get the person's name and write a letter/email to the manager and to head office saying what outstanding service you received.

I'm sure they'd be very pleased with the tip. Let them tell you if they think it's too weird, I'm sure they won't! Write a recommendation too.

I think I’d be inclined to give a box of chocolates. Better still write a card that they can show their boss. It isn’t usual to tip reception staff.

Agreed. No tip. A thank you card would be nice. Can be used by the staff for any appraisals they have.
