Feeling ill after eating gluten-free supermarket pizza, anyone else?

Was in agony after sharing a pizza with my DC on Saturday, pain worse than childbirth, I thought my gut has burst or was on fire.

I looked at some ingredients in detail and found out psyllium could be a culprit.

Has anyone else experienced similar or discovered something else causing problems?

Yup Psyllium husk powder can absolutely have that effect - also look out for chicory root fibre or inulin. If your guts are sensitive to these fibres then you will absolutely know about it, should calm down after about 12 hours though. Also xantham gum can have a similar effect and gluten free stuff tends to have a lot in,

Omg, thank you.

I even went to the drs as thought I had a gall bladder attack or burst gut.

I cooked that pizza the recommended time but it never browned and looked white, a bit like if it wasn't cooked.

I think that's me done with gf bakery stuff.

I get the same, it is the physillium husk. They sell it as a drug treatment for constipation, it’s an insoluble fibre. A big dose when you’re not used to it can absolutely make you bloated and cause an upset stomach.

I guess if you had it regularly you’d probably get used to it. But why bother if you can eat gluten? It’s not as tasty either.
