Weird things you can do

I could see 2D images as kind of 3D.
It used to happen when I was going to sleep and I'd stare at the wallpaper of my bedroom and the print would appear to lift off and stand in front of the wall. Kind of like a magic eye pictures before they were a thing. Weirdly I could never do those magic eye pictures despite trying over and over at first. Eventually I could but it took a long time.

I can also turn myself around mentally to make it feel like I'm travelling in the opposite direction when looking out of the window on a train in a dark tunnel.

I discovered as a child that when having a nightmare and running away from something and it's like you are in slow motion that if I turn myself around I can run backwards faster. I can consciously turn myself round to run backwards.

And tell myself in a nightmare that I'm dreaming and to wake up and I do wake up.

Anyone else do things like this? It's probably completely normal but I've been met with weird looks when I've spoken about it to others.

Ooooh, that sounds fascinating. I wish I could do that train trick - I feel really sick if I have to travel facing backwards.

I remember falling down a flight of stairs once as a teen and seeing myself fall, but that is the only weird thing that has ever happened to me.

My kids say they have lucid dreams where they can control their dreams.

I had a recurring nightmare years ago and taught myself to wake myself up in the middle of it. Once I mastered that, I stopped having the nightmare very soon after.

I can do the same as you OP, create moving three-dimensional imagery by staring fixedly at wallpaper and fabric. Once I saw dancing bridesmaids in artex…I can also dream lucidly, and even to order (up to a point). I can dream in prose, summon vivid childhood memories at will
and stare at my reflection in the mirror until it moves independently; I am slightly afraid to do it after dark since reading Lisey’s Story. On an unrelated note, I can play the mouth trumpet, waggle me ears and lick the tip of my nose. Get a hobby, they say….
😂😜

@becarefulofyourheart that's cool! I wonder what it's called as I bet there's a scientific name for it. Googling hasn't been fruitful.
