Jet lag & covid - when will I feel normal again?

We were in America for a fortnight. Felt a bit ropey the last few days of the holiday - sore throat, sniffly, upset stomach, tired. The journey home was grim. Night flight, delays, missed our connection, more delays… and I struggled to get any sleep.

A number of people we met on holiday have since tested positive for covid, so I’m assuming that’s what I have - barking cough, diarrhoea, fatigue. The rest of my family had it too, but they shook it off after a day or two. I’m rarely ill and usually recover quickly.

I’ve now been home a week and my sleep pattern is completely buggered. I’m only sleeping for a couple of hours at a time. Then I wake disorientated and run around my bedroom like a loon, talking gibberish. I then struggle to drag myself out of bed the next day.

Last night I tried melatonin, but still woke after two hours and tossed and turned the rest of the night. Fresh air, exercise and drinking water hasn’t helped either.

It feels like I’m taking the piss now. It’s been a week! I just want to feel normal again.

I sympathise OP - I’m currently on holiday with a 9 hour time difference and Christ I feel terrible. Stomach is all over the place and throat is sore. I don’t think it’s anything more than jet lag but it’s really spoiling the holiday!

Covid plays with the sleep receptors. This is why I’m answering this now😫

It takes about 6 weeks to calm down.

That’s exactly how my symptoms started @Chickenfeed67! It sucks when you’re on holiday.

I did not know that @ArseInTheCoOpWindow (you def win the prize for best username Grin). 6 weeks? Christ. Sorry to hear you’re feeling rotten too. Sleep deprivation really is a killer!
