Inspired by a similar thread...We're off to Mexico next week and would love to know if there's anything we should be looking to buy? I already have Retin-A on the list. Would love to know any clothing/sweet treats/beauty stuff/booze etc that we should keep an eye out for.

Thank you, good shout, I've heard this before but had completely forgotten. Any more from anyone else please?

From recently rewatching the OC my understanding is that you can get great drugs legally OTC but i'm not sure that's what you were looking for.

I'm interested as I'm planning a trip later in the year
I did read that some medication which is prescription only here is more easily available. And that silver jewellery is worth looking at

When I lived in England (1995-2004) and would visit my family who live on the US/Mexico border, I would bring back loads of food stuffs to make food at home.

I would buy masa harina to make corn tortillas for foods like tacos, flautas and gorditas. Dried corn husks to wrap tamales, lots of dried chiles to make enchiladas (they are NOT made with tomato sauce!) and hominy for pozole dishes and prepared moles. Mexican vanilla and chocolate, for drinking hot chocolate, is superb!

I used to drink back then and I always brought home lots of bottles of tequila.

Oh, I had forgotten about silver jewelry. It's beautiful and very well-priced. Good call!

I would also add blankets. Obviously, they weigh a lot but to me, it's worth it. I especially liked the embroidered ones for their beauty and craftsmanship. I also liked their woolen sarapes as I wore them a lot as a child. I'd also buy leather boots or belts.

I forgot to mention earlier, coffee beans. I remember reading somewhere that they're the largest producer of organic coffee beans in the world. Also, get mescal. It's a completely different drink to tequila despite from being made from agave. A very good one will be smokey and sweet. It's very nice.
