Corsa or Yaris or 208 or…?

We’re having to replace our car unexpectedly.

Currently we are considering:

Vauxhall Corsa
Toyota Yaris
Peugeot 208 (or maybe 2008)

We want:

  • to spend less than £15,000 used for something max. 3-4 years old with less than 35,000 miles
  • reliable
  • fuel efficient (petrol or diesel - no off street parking or charging facilities at home or work)
  • 5 door
  • decent boot (2+ suitcases minimum)
  • not extortionate to insure new driver

Has anyone got experience with any of the above models (2019 plate or newer)?

Or recommendations for makes/models that might fit our bill?

We are both not car people and a no-fault accident has meant we’re having to shop many years before we wanted to, so any advice is much appreciated

The Yaris every single time. Toyota reliability is hard to beat.

How many miles do you do per year?

Less than about 12,000 and you don't want a diesel.

And how big are the suitcases?

Yaris.

Yaris - I have a 19 plate which I’m replacing later this year for a new one and I love it .. It’s been a fantastic car , it’s our second car but we’ve just gone back from a week away , two adults , two teens plus luggage .. no issues , we take this one as it’s very economical,
I used to drive Vw’s but I’m a Toyota convert .

I’ve got an 18 plate Yaris hybrid (self-charging not plug-in) and love it, takes two adults and two teens (can fit three in the back on occasion), plenty of boot room, 60mpg, very reliable. Might not take ginormous suitcases but the boot does have a lot of space.

We bought a Honda Jazz last year 2017 plate with very low mileage (less than 12000) and it cost £13500

It ticks all of your criteria

Maybe a bit big for your brief but you did mention a 3008 which is quite a large car -
Vauxhall insignia - gorgeous car, so much for your money, huge boot and Roomey inside. we have 2 in our household 😂 could get a 2019 ecotec for around £13.5k with around 40k mileage or better!

I had a 2019 corsa - loved it!
