Hi,

I had a loose seton stitch inserted this week. Wondering if anyone has any experience of this or know when it will stop hurting?

Hi,

I hope you are feeling more recovered now. I had my seton stitch placed in March as I have a horseshoe perianal fistula and abscesses kept occurring. On the whole, I’ve found it not very painful at all. I do struggle sometimes to sit on hard surfaces such as the floor or wooden benches sometimes but usually manageable. My top tip is for days where you are more on the go, put some gauze between the cheeks to stop the rubbing!
hope this helps and happy to answer any questions x

Hi @SetonStitchHelp
Know it was a while ago but I'm just wondering how you got on? I had one placed 5 days ago so I'm still very much finding my feet. I can't see it obviously, but it feels like the two ends are secured together with a metal clip like crimped on. That's rubbing a tiny bit, and the cut end of the cord is spiking my wound a little. I'm hoping it softens up a little, or the wound toughens up a bit. I'm not sure whether to ring the surgical clinic so I can nip back to the surgical clinic and see if anyone can trim it a bit. I don't want to look like a neurotic patient if I can help it! Especially if it'll settle more and this is just because it's early days.
