Intermittent problem sending emails from iPhone

Any one had - and solved - the problem where an email sent from iphone fails to send, but isn't in draft or outbox ie just disappears? It doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally, but has happened on multiple occasions. Not a connectivity issue, and when I've googled, suggestions appear to be for when emails don't send at all, not just occasionally.
Thoughts welcome!

Are you accidentally hitting the ‘Undo Send’ button, at the bottom, after you’ve sent it? I think this is a relatively new feature, which allows you to cancel an e mail for a minute or so after you’ve sent it. I’ve done exactly this a few times and took me a while to work it out.

ooh didn't know that @edwinbear , very useful to know. I've just done a test, thinking that might well be the reason but a) when i press unsend I get a cancel screen, and b) the email is in my drafts, neither of which have happened with my unsentimental mail so that can't be it. But had never noticed that function before so am glad you mentioned it, thank you

It's so annoying and I never quite trust an email has actually been sent now.

I'm bumping this to see if there is anyone out there has found a solution to this problem. I need to be able to respond to emails while on vacation and don't really want to take my laptop with me. Thanks
