Anyone else's DCs grown apart from primary friends?

DS seems to have drifted apart from all his formerly close friends in the final term or so of primary. He has had one actual falling out with a pal which isn't uncommon for them both and there is generally niggles on both sides but now he is hanging around the house not wanting to play out like he would usually and it is making him and me a bit sad. I'm wfh so can only break off for structured activities (cinema/swimming etc) when I schedule a few hours off so he is watching a lot of Netflix.

I think they have outgrown each other perhaps and are more than ready for the move to a big secondary school as they are in a very small village primary school with only 10 year 6 boys to 20 girls. Is this fairly common friendship wise? I've noticed this year that his friends were happy to accept our invitations to join activities but he didn't get invited back and was left out of the end-of-term sleepover at his former best friend's house.

He does extracurricular activities and they are carrying on this summer and we are going away with friends later this summer so he is still socialising but his school friendships seem to have disappeared. Did this happen to your DC?
