3 year old birthday appropriate gifts?

First time at a party for my 3yo, for another child in his class at preschool. I have bought some sparkly crayons and a sticker book so far but not sure if the etiquette is to get a more substantial or nicer gift? The party is at the child's home in London if that makes a difference.

Any current experiences of suitable gifts?

Also should I bring a bottle for the parents (whom I've never met) or is that inappropriate??

Minefield!

That is a good gift. These things are always used.

Other things we gave for pre-school friends were books/book vouchers, jigsaws and games, anything related to a favourite TV character. I think we normally stayed between £5-10. I live in an outer London borough with a typical middle-class families.

I personally wouldn't bring a bottle for the parents if I don't know them. Offer to help and clear up is very much appreciated though.

Yeah, I'd spend £5-10 (closer to 5 if possible!). Usually but a book as I feel it's least annoying for the parents (who probably don't want a house full of plastic tat) but crayons and stickers are good too. I wouldn't bring a bottle.
