Eating out Islington

Does anyone have any ideas for eating out in Islington/Kings Cross? Will be a small group of friends. We love Ottolenghi but have been there several times. Looking for lunch ideas - not too cheap but not too pricey either. Good quality food and wine preferred. Probably going to be a Sunday.

I don't think Upper Street is what it was - try Coal Drops Yard behind Kings Cross station there are some lovely places. I enjoyed Parrillan.

Bellanger has recently reopened on Islington Green. I thought the menu and service were good when I went.

Have a look at Moro in Exmouth Market, the Quality Chop House round the corner, Liman on Pentonville Road, Trullo up by Highbury Station. The new menu at Bellanger looks good but I haven't been there recently. I haven't tried any of the places in Coal Drops Yard but it has great atmosphere. Kolossi just off Exmouth Market was well-reviewed by Jay Rayner recently and we liked it too. Completely agree that there's not much on Upper Street these days.

I liked Hoppers (Sri Lankan, St Pancras Square); Dishoom is also good.

I agree Bellanger looks good but I have not been yet, I like the sister restaurant though so look forward to going.

Frederick’s (Camden Passage) another that I like.

The Afghan Kitchen on Islington Green is marvellous (but I'm not sure if it opens on a Sunday). Frederick's on Camden Passage is good if you want something a bit 'posh'.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Fredericks is only open for private parties on Sundays unfortunately- looks nice though so will try that another day.

Trullo on St Paul's Road is nice - I went there a couple of Sundays ago. Good food and good wine list :)
