hi, not sure if this is the right place, but let's see if Mumsnet can help.
my husband passed away in June. It's been fairly awful. however, latest of my things to sort was his google photos. I want to keep them. but his email was getting messages saying his storage had run out (as his bank account shut and the payment ceased).
I logged on to his google photos and did the 'takeout' thing to clear space. then deleted the albums.
this was a few weeks ago. Today, I wanted to find a particular photo to get printed for our children, which is a nice one of DH.
The files I have downloaded are all jpeg.json, so I can't open them.
Total panic, tears - I've lost all the years of photos.
I log back in to DH's google photos, and realised, it's just the albums (phew). the actual pictures are still there. so, how can I keep all DH's photos? I have my own google photos, is there a way to link/combine the two? or to easily download all his pics then upload to mine?
Whilst google haven't deleted DH's accounts, I presume that eventually they will do so and I want to make sure that I keep his photos.
TIA.
