Red putty on the carpet. HELP

It absolutely was not any of my children that did this, according to them 🙄

I don't know wtf is going on with this putty but when you have it in your hands it marks your hands red.
So it sure as hell will be marking the carpet red.

Im worried if I scrub at it, it will spread the red further out.

Does anyone have any advice before I end up throwing all my children in the bin?

Ooof.

I'd be tempted try heat or cold.

Teatowel placed over it and the iron on hot?

Or ice it.

But neither may work....
