Has anyone seen this film on Netflix? Absolutely insane 🤯

It’s crazy what some find thrilling - I couldn’t think of anything worse than what they do for fun!

the ending was heartbreaking

Newuser75 · 26/07/2023 20:50

I haven't watched it but I saw them
Talking about it on gogglebox and it honestly made me feel ill. Have absolutely no idea why anyone would do this. Poor poor man at the end.

It was really interesting as I know very little about free diving. I can sort of understand the challenge but it was v sad.

PollyThePixie · 26/07/2023 20:56

when I’m at the gym doing my personal training there’s a free diver there also doing his. In fact he’s a world class diver and is away this week defending a title. He told me that he puts himself into what I can only describe as a trance, that he’s almost fallen asleep a few times. It sounded horrific but to him it was perfectly normal.

And then a few years ago I went whale watching/swimming with a world champion free diver who’d even been married on the sea bed. He was as different from my gym buddy as it’s possible to be. He was very hyper whereas my gym buddy is extremely laid back.

Yeah, I'd never even heard of the competitions or anything! Always just thought of it as something you tried as a kid 😅 absolutely heartbreaking at the end though.

I've seen a couple of documentaries about free divers. They always seem to be women, which seems odd to me. I'd have thought men would have bigger lungs.

Greenvelvetdress · 26/07/2023 21:29

I read somewhere that women and men are equally as good at free diving, I wonder if women being more buoyant coming back up helps? The lung thing does seem strange
