I'm looking for a nice restaurant for a Saturday lunch in a few weeks for 3 adults. Somewhere mid-priced, not too noisy, where we can spend a good 2-3 hours and not be rushed out. Flexible on cuisine. Already aware of Dishoom and Lina Stores but other suggestions gratefully received. Ta!

Oh wow - there are so many there to choose from. Caravan is great. Supawan amazing food if you like Thai (maybe not a ‘lingering’ lunch spot though). There’s Mexican, German Gymnasium (good call if you like menu), Spanish, great pizza…loads to go at

Coal Office is my favourite but it does end up quite pricy IME - plates are quite small and far too good!

Thanks for suggestions. Going to go with either Dishoom or Caravan, but DP would love German Gymnasium so will try that another time too!

just keep in mind with Dishoom that there are no reservations - you will have to queue and I don’t know how happy they will be with you taking 2-3hrs (given the queue!)

sleepwhenidie · 26/07/2023 23:21

There are places you could go for drinks afterwards though!

Drummond Street! That is the absolute best place near kings cross. Chutney's is the original (and best!) but there are a load of others in the area. You have to pick your way through roadworks and closures but that's fine on foot. These guys are the real deal.

Hoppers is great, the food was soo tasty and lovely cocktails!

'just keep in mind with Dishoom that there are no reservations

They take bookings up to 5.45pm for any size groups and for groups of 6+ after that
