Best beach day trip from London with 3yo?

Looking for a beach day out but haven't done one since being a mum so no clue where's child-friendly for a 3 year old!

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

(Not Brighton as we go there regularly).

  • preferably sandy or great for shell collecting
  • easy public transport or drive from SE London
  • facilities like fish and chips, ice cream, toilets etc.

Southend
Walton
Frinton

All lovely beaches.

We used to go quite frequently to Camber Sands on a day trip from south London.

Margate (train from Victoria)
Weymouth (train from Waterloo but it’s 3 hours on the train)

Bognor Regis is also doable -mixed sand/shingle beaches.

We really like Whitstable but it rocky so it may not be for your. We also like Camber Sands.

Camber and Whitstable are lovely but they are heaving with traffic and sometimes the police have to close the road to camber as its so packed
Try Dymchurch, old fashioned fun fair , sandy beach little train to ride on to dungerness and loads of fish chips and seafood for the adults
