Are tie backs naff?

I've bought some new curtains and they really could do with 'taming'! They don't hang nice and straight like my old ones did - they're unlined linen so not heavy enough.

Question is, are tie backs old fashioned now? I don't mean the rope or tassel ones, I don't think I want them. But what about the solid ones attached to the wall?

Do people still have them? Or is there a better alternative?

I have the solid metal hold-backs on the wall, they do the job, don’t look awful and marginally less effort than putting tie backs on!

Yes, I do ! They look so much better than just hanging down.
