Health anxiety or something serious

DH has been having weird symptoms the past 2 weeks. Can’t feel his throat when he swallows. Doesn’t feel his muscles tensing - so if he does arm circles for example can do them for ages without feeling any strain on his muscles. Loss of bowel pressure so he doesn’t have the urgency to poop. He has had various blood tests, a nerve conduction test which are all normal. He had an MRI and is waiting for results. It’s causing him to worry constantly but he is also a bit obsessive about his health. I don’t feel like I am being very supportive because he seems to move from one health worry to another. He is very fit active and in great shape. We’re on a holiday at the moment and his constant worry is honestly driving me crazy. I know I sound unsympathetic but I tend not to worry about things unless there is a serious diagnosis.

My DH was like this. Insisted that it was various physical problems, but all tests came back negative. It was anxiety and antidepressants were the answer.

DustyLee123 - thanks for the reply. I hope my DH doesn’t have anything serious wrong. The current situation is very draining. He gets very irritated that I am not reassuring him. Interesting that your DH has found antidepressants helpful.

that sounds exhausting, OP. What is his obsession displacing, what is he actually uncomfortable about?
