How do you quote part of a post only?

Please explain how you manage to quote part of a post only? I want to only quote a small bit, but end up quoting massive posts I don't need all of.

I don't think there's a way to do this. You have to type it out or use copy & paste.

You just have to bold it using either side of what you copy & paste (without spaces)
I swear I’ve seen smaller sections quoted, as did another poster, but MN said it’s not possible at the moment.

It's a workaround to only quote part of a post.
