Just this basically!

I'm currently suffering, have been for several weeks now, so painful!

If you've had one, how have you recovered?

My dad had one some years ago. It was pretty bad and it got infected. Spent weeks in hospital on industrial quantities of antibiotics. He then needed a replacement as the cartilage (I think) was destroyed. Sorry no advice other than to keep in touch with Drs.

@Radiatorvalves omg your poor Dad! He must have been in so much pain.
I'm currently away on holiday and really struggling with it - back to the docs straight when I get back!
Thankyou for taking the time to reply x

He’s fine now (this was about 10 years ago), but he was off his head at the time. He told old and very nice friends to F off (not him at all) and a lovely nurse asked me if he was always like victor meldrew, but worse.

hope you manage to get yours dealt with.

Loads of painkillers. Rest. I banged it badly and it popped. Strangely, it healed after that. It was very painful and lasted 3-4 weeks.

I had one this year and had it drained with a steroid injection after by the local MSK clinic. It's much better now but shows there's an underlying cartilage problem. It's much better now but they can come back. Get your GP to refer you.

Hi thank you for sharing, just wanted to ask, you said your dad is fine now. What was the underlying issue that caused it, Was due to a cartilage problem do you know? And is he back to normal now? And also how long did it last?
