Flying to Spain tomorrow but have come down with the flu- what should I do?

First holiday in 4 years. Have saved and saved to ensure it'd be worth the wait getting away. Except I'm spiking a temperature of 39.8 and have the shivers and usual aches and pains associated with the flu. Currently in bed with a big wooly jumper, long sleeve top and camisole top with leggings. Have a hot water bottle to help with the chills. How am I going to manage the airport and plane with a 3&4 YO tomorrow evening? Not helped by the fact that I also have a report due in first thing tomorrow for work which I was going to finish off tonight.

Quick ideas for recovery please :(

Don’t go and spread your germs to a plane load of people? Sorry that’s not the answer you are looking for.

Cold and flu relief, hot lemon and manuka honey.

Good Luck.

If you've truly got flu you'll barely have the energy to get out of bed, no way will you be going on holiday.

If you had the flu you wouldn’t have been able to even type this.

You won't have influenza if you are able to move around albeit with discomfort. If you can function and get out of bed, make tea, feed the kids, write the report you don't have it. Take a Covid test anyway.

Go, dose up on drugs of choice, and wear a mask on the plane for the sake of others.

"Influenza" is a hundred different viruses interacting with a million different immune systems. Of course you can have it more or less severely and may be able to struggle out of bed or look at a phone. Does everyone who has it have to pee in a bedpan for a week?

It doesn't sound like you'll be able to shepherd two small children on a flight solo though OP. How's your insurance?

If it’s Flu you won’t care about going anywhere

Oh I really feel for you that's awful timing. I've just got back from Spain and it was very hot! So if your running a high temp and your struggling to bring it down it's going to be unpleasant.

If you do decide to go, make sure you pack medicine as most shops don't sell it only pharmacy's and check where the local medical centre is should you need it.

Covid test

ElectricToothbrush · 25/07/2023 17:30

Please take a Covid test and if you end up flying, please wear a mask even if it's currently showing negative.

Bad cold.
Paracetamol
Ibuprofen
Vit C and zinc
Vit D
Echinacea
Steam
Vicks first defence
Sudafed
Balsam tissues

Get a decent nights sleep and wear a mask on the plane.
