New here. Lots of my friends are turning 60 this year including my best friend. I’m looking for present suggestions to really blow it out of the water - what are the best things you’ve received? Experiences welcome as well as gifts.

I'll be 60 next year and plan a year of experiences and things I've always wanted to do. Family can pay for any if they want as a gift, but I'll be doing them anyway.
So far one sis is taking me to Chelsea flower show which I'm really looking forward to,and I will be taking myself to Orkney to watch the sunrise on the solstice at Ring of Brodgar. Cant wait for that.
Think DD2 is taking me tubing/rafting.
Might get a tattoo.
Also fancy hang gliding!

I'm close in years. The best presents I've had lately include a 3.day music festival, a mug with a quote meaningful to me, a soft velvety blanket and a delicious Italian meal out. Gig? Theatre? Dinner? Books?

I guess it depends on the recipient for the balance of experiences vs things. 🤔 If you asked me today, I'd say jasmine or lavender for the garden, or maybe a small fruit tree. Possibly the repair of my old and much loved childhood bear, who still sits on a bookshelf. Or a day at the beach.

Hope that helps to trigger some thoughts.

We meet up quite regularly so probably not the top choice. Want something that she will remember forever.

I turned 60 recently and it's been all about the experiences this year. Some of them:

  • tickets to a show I really wanted to see
  • tickets to the Crown to Couture exhibition at Kensington Palace
  • tickets to the Chanel exhibition at the V&A
  • tickets to Abba Voyage
  • afternoon tea on a bus
