All thing woo…

Was reading a thread on here earlier about some odd things (think objects that have moved when no-one’s been there to move them) happening in someone’s house, and it got me wondering — what’s the weirdest, most woo thing that’s ever happened to you? (Nothing untoward has ever really happened to me. Not sure if I’m relieved or disappointed, tbh. Possibly both.)

My work is haunted. I'm often in the building by myself (it's an old detached house converted into offices) and I hear noises as clear as day, usually a man coughing and door handles/locks turning. I used to go and search the building to make sure nobody else was around but now I just think meh it's the ghost.

Two things for certain, or as certain as you can be. My favourite aunt died and the night after she was buried, a blue ball of light whizzed about my bedroom. I checked, and there were no cars about outside plus I stay at the end of a cul de sac. It was very bright and I watched it for ages. The second thing was the day my dad died. He and mum were living in a new flat, they had been there a couple of years with no issues. That night the living room was full of visitors all talking about dad when three times the overhead light flickered. Once and only time it did it.

This thread is fascinating, will add mine later.

So weirdly had a mini woo one this morning. My child woke me up at 5am having had a nightmare. Carried her through to my room and settled her between me and dh. About 5 mins later my wardrobe door rattled. This is a frequent occurrence when my daft cat has been shut in there. Asked DH to open wardrobe door to let cat out. DH advised me he had shut cat downstairs before he came to bed. Sure enough... No cat in wardrobe and found her snoozing on the couch downstairs.

Not most woo but recent.
DC has just found a sewing needle poking out if the carpet, having nearly trodden on it.

  1. I haven't had any sewing implements out for over a month.
  2. I thoroughly hoovered the carpet Monday
  3. There has been nothing moved over or in the area that the needle was found in.
  4. Both of us have been walking around Barefoot for the past hour and a half, in that area.

So, how did it get there?

Not the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me, but it's a fresh one today I was working in a dental surgery I was facing the patient when something caught my eye; we had a hand mirror tucked in to a cupboard handle if you can imagine? the mirror was reflecting sort of undulating/rippling light on the wall like if you get sunlight shining through a tree onto your wall in the house for example, But no natural light comes into the surgery because it's a surgery inside a practice inside another building. no natural light at all and our surgery lights don't do that and when I looked over to the wall there was nothing on the wall for the mirror to be reflecting from then when I looked back again at the mirror it was all normal. I'd cried this morning so I think it was a little positive sparkle to me lol

I don't think it's particularly woo but very weird. Years ago I found a random item from the house out in the front drive way. Wasn't an item I'd used in months and months maybe longer and was tucked away safe.

My husband said he didn't even know the item existed (low value jewellery from memory) and the only visitors we had had recently were my best friend and her husband who I have absolutely no reason to think were involved. It was just odd.

Something a bit woo happened in our house today. DH had gone to pic up DD from school & DD (16) was in house on her own. She was in her bedroom and she heard what was like beads being dropped on the floor. We live in a bungalow with wooden floors in hall. She came out to see what it was and there were pearl like beads and tiny little silver beads all over the floor. Like ones you'd find on an elasticated bracelet. Thing is we haven't had a bracelet like that in our house for years. Certainly not in this house which we only moved into Sept 12 months ago. No idea where the beads came from and how they got in the hall. 🙈

MollsDolls · 25/10/2023 19:09

Feck.......just as I finished typing I heard a noise in the hall and I came out to find a bead on the floor. I wa sitting in kitchen and have direct view of hall and nobody was in it. 😳

I had a bit of a time slip moment the other morning. Really mundane though.

I wanted to have bacon, mushrooms, and toast for brunch. It's a combination I'm quite familiar with so I have the timing spot on. I started to fry the mushrooms. Once they'd got going I decided I needed to pop to the toilet so I put the bread in the toaster and nipped upstairs for a wee. I came back down a couple of minutes later and noticed that I had forgotten to 'start' the toaster, and the untoasted bread was just sat there - definitely untoasted because I touched it and it wasn't warm. I pushed the toaster thing down to the on position, and turned around to retrieve the packet of bacon from the work surface. As I was turning back towards the hob/toaster, my toast pinged up - the toast was well done, just how I like it. I had only turned my back for literally a couple of seconds! Our toaster is crap (only two of the four slots actually work) and usually takes several minutes to toast bread.

It was most confusing. I haven't even bothered to tell anyone because it's the most boring woo story ever.

This is a really stupid one but it happened to me a few years ago.

I was in my old house and my ex was on nights.

I went up the stairs to go to bed and the doorbell went. Looked out no one there.

Went up the stairs to go to bed and other went again so I looked out again. Again no one there and I was a bit spooked so I sat on the sofa with the two cats. One next to me one behind me.

The next minute I felt a cold sweat break out all down my back and the two cats started hissing but not at each other.

I literally ran up the stairs.

A few nights later I was lying in bed and my ex was downstairs. I was not asleep I had only just got in the bed and closed my eyes and someone shouted boo really loudly in my ear.

It was not my ex and he didn't believe me.

A few weeks later he was in on his own and I was away for the weekend and he called me bricking himself because he was in bed watching telly and the landing had all lights flashing. Not the landing light. No windows it could have come in from.

We split not long after and I moved home but I couldn't explain any of it.

xogossipgirlxo · 26/10/2023 10:56

I’m pretty sure we have ghost in our house. Disappearing objects being put back in random places like sink, sudden feeling of cold wind, weird scents where there’s no possibility for them to be etc.

CurlewKate · 26/10/2023 10:58

I could give a long list of all the weird things that have happened to me over a long life-then give the entirely rational explanations for them. But I have enough unpopular opinions on here already!

AinmSloinne · 01/06/2024 21:38

The evening my dad passed on, my mobile phone inexplicably "died", never to go again (like the grandfather clock in the Johnny Cash song). Now, I know phones break down and so on, but I hadn't dropped the phone or anything. More things on heaven and earth ...
