Social worker maternity leave

Hi all, I wondered if there was anyone around to offer some advice/guidance. I'm a registered social worker, employed by a LA currently on maternity leave. I'm wondering whether it is possible to apply for and complete Form F assessments whilst off?

Ultimately it would mean becoming a ISW but still being employed, unsure of the logistics and legalities.

You can’t take on paid work whilst receiving SMP unfortunately.

You could some KIT days

You can’t use KIT days to do an alternative employment though it has to be for your substantive post.

According to this you can self employed during maternity in addition to SMP

iSW is absolute self employed work so would fit the bill in my mind. Have you done form Fs before? You need to confirm with your LA they are happy for you to do self employed work alongside contract but I have never had any issues in the past.
