Any guesses how they got my new address?

A holiday company (Mercury Travel) brochure arrived through the door today.

I think we did book with them once, but it was years ago….. at least one house move, and quite possibly two ago. If they’re part of a bigger group - I definitely haven’t booked a holiday with anyone since we moved to this address.

Anyone got any theories as to how they might have obtained my current address? Is there some sort of central Big Brother marketing database that I don’t know about? I’m always very careful about ticking/unticking the right box when they ask about sharing my details with “trusted partners” and similar so I don’t get inundated with loads of stuff I don’t want.

They make it really difficult to get in touch to ask to be removed as well. No email address on the website - I’m not going to waste the price of a stamp on it. I’ve used the contact form to ask them to remove my details from their system.

And now another, bigger brochure has arrived.

There was never any acknowledgment of my request for my name to be removed from their mailing list. I do appreciate that mailouts are arranged weeks in advance, so this one was possibly underway before my request. But even so, I am upping my response.

So I have stuck a blank label over my address, and written unsolicited mail, return to sender on it, with their return address.

And I will do the same with any further examples.

Still no idea how they could have got hold of my current address.
