Anyone's plans scuppered by the rain?

Forecast last night said the chance of a shower in our area, it's pouring this morning. Today's plans were to do the washing (do it most of time when it can go out as don't have a tumble dryer), paint the fence and go for a bike ride.

Now I need to have a rethink🙄. Probably do an online class at home and finish reading my book, in hope it drys up and I can go on a bike ride later. I'm planning on painting the bathroom in next week or so, so will probably sort stuff out for painting that and the fence as well.

Luckily I don't have any DC to worry about though on first day of hols.

Yes! I’ve got outside jobs to do that I’ve not been able to do for what feels like weeks. The inside of my house is pristine though 😂

YorkieTheRabbit · 24/07/2023 08:38

Got loads to do outside but it’s still bloody raining. We’ve had almost a months rain in two days, parts of the garden are absolutely flattened. Out of the last 17 days, we’ve had one dry day, that’s it, one sodding day.

frozendaisy · 24/07/2023 08:48

No still going to meet overseas friends and bring here.
Some plans can't be changed.

Still if you don't have to go out and can stay in and read that's not so bad

Flickersy · 24/07/2023 08:50

Don't you have a clothes horse? You can still do laundry when it's raining and you don't have a tumble dryer.

I agree painting the fence is out but if you have the right clothing you could still go for a bike ride if you wanted to.

Daughter was supposed to play a county cricket match, but it's been cancelled because of the heavy rain overnight and the grounds are waterlogged.

So many of her matches have been rain affected this year, no end in sight either, it's sad.

On holiday (SE coast). We've had some sunny weather which was a relief after 10 whole days of rain predicted but I think we've had all the sun we're going to get. Next 6 days look awful. Thankfully we have plenty of indoor things we can do but the beach tent and chairs we lugged with us are sitting there mocking me.

Purplerain0505 · 24/07/2023 09:08

I feel a bit sad that we’re basically doing autumn/winter activities when it’s the middle of summer. I’ve been in the garden once this year. I was hoping to spend some time on the beach today or go for a walk/picnic as I’ve got a few rare days off. I can still do those things when it’s a bit damp but it’s not what I had in mind! I’m currently choosing between the cinema and the local swimming pool.

It's sunny this morning here but it's rained solidly for the last week. Not sure if we'll get more rain today but it's definitely not a summers day

bagforlifeamnesty · 24/07/2023 09:13

At this point I’m ready to call it quits and just do autumn. But it’s the start of the summer holidays and DD is off preschool so… looks like soft play AGAIN this week 😩

bagforlifeamnesty · 24/07/2023 09:13

Oh and Sod’s law the day that DH is due to have the kids (tomorrow) is actually forecast to be sunny 🙄 and muggins over here will have to entertain them in the rain

Giggorata · 24/07/2023 09:16

Still trying to get the dog run base done and a wall built in the garden. This means that the new kennel I have ordered has been put back for months. 🙁

I have also decided against going to a lovely camp with like minded people at the end of this month, as it will be too miserable and muddy.

To cap it all, we have discovered a slipped tile on the roof and have a leak. 😬

Oblomov23 · 24/07/2023 09:22

I'm so fed up with this shit. Had a bbq for 12 yesterday, 6 couples, work colleagues, planned months ago. Was so glad it didn't rain.

Off to Dorset at the end of this week for a week to our caravan and looking forward to it for ages, but the thought of it raining for a whole week fills me with dread.

and I'm just so fed up of this fucking shitty weather like so fed up off, is really pissing me off.

BovrilMartini · 24/07/2023 09:30

We have tickets for the local Lido on Thursday. They are like gold dust in the holidays as it’s so lovely. It’s forecast thunder and lightning. So pissed off. Another bloody day in the holidays I have to fill

Jazzybean · 24/07/2023 09:35

Planning on tidying the house, hoovering, cleaning out the budgie, going for a swim, and gardening. Will probably just crack on with all of that. Gardening might be a bit miserable but there’s only a few things that desperately need doing.

Queenfreak · 24/07/2023 09:40

We are going for a walk in the rain to rescue worms (6yr old).

We are also going to make some felt pen pictures/patterns and see how they spread in the rain.

I promised baking too.

I'm so flipping sick of being cold and wet (currently in NE)

DrCoconut · 24/07/2023 09:43

I'm glad I splashed out on a glamping pod rather than a tent pitch for this weekend 😫

FannythePinkFlamingo · 24/07/2023 10:03

I have a day off today and had planned to do some long outstanding outside jobs. It's pissing down so that's no happening. Really, really fed up with the weather now.
